"The Things You Love Are The Things You Hate"
This has meant something different to me everytime I think about it. I thought I had it all figured out. But lately the more I ponder on it, the more I realize that this is not as universal as I would like it be...
In it simplicity I believed it to mean that basically EVERYTHING has two faces. So in other words, there is a good and bad to all things in life. So for each thing you like (love) there is something about it that you don't like or would change (hate). That is the intepretation I've been living with for many years now. But as of late I began to reflect upon this aphorism and it seems as though this isn't necessarily true for every aspect of life, alot of things, but not everything...
Someone else interpreted it as being passionate about something. Hate (as an extreme) is a strong emotion and you can't hate something without caring about it. Hate requires an extreme amount of love, in a sense.
Another's thought on it is that love and hate are not simultaneous; one may lead into another. And they totally disagree with the statement and feel like it's a really depressing thing to say.
Im kind of at a loss... I have no idea what to think about this anymore. Maybe one day ill come to a conclusion or better yet a life motto that can be easily molded to fit any and all circumstances.
